In the movie The Dark Knight, the Joker rigs two ferry boats leaving the city with explosives, and gives the passengers on each boat the trigger for the other. One boat contains average civilians, but the other contains prisoners, as he calls it Harvey’s favorite collection of scumbags.

The Joker informs them through a radio that one of the boats must blow up the other before midnight, or he’ll detonate both, killing them all. The passengers on both boats are horrified and confused, and they don’t know what to do.

On the civilian boat, the passengers start to panic. They argue about what to do, and some of them even start to vote on whether or not to blow up the other boat. In the end, they decide not to do it, but they’re all still scared.

On the prisoner boat, the prisoners are also scared, but they’re also angry. They don’t want to be killed, and they don’t want to kill anyone else. One of the prisoners, a man named John Blake, stands up and says, “Give it to me. You can tell them I took it by force.” He takes the detonator from the prison warden and throws it out the window.

Blake’s act is significant because it shows that even the worst people are capable of good. He’s a prisoner, and he’s been through a lot of bad things, but he still chooses to do the right thing. He’s willing to sacrifice his own life to save the lives of others.

Blake’s act stands in contrast to the actions of the civilians on the other boat. The civilians were also scared, but they were also willing to kill innocent people to save themselves. Blake, on the other hand, was willing to die to save innocent people.

Blake’s act is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope. There are always people who are willing to do the right thing, even when it’s difficult.
