A friend asked me if something had changed on Facebook. There used to lot more posts from friends, where they are and what they are doing. Lately, it has changed completely. This is due to the recent change in Facebook algorithms.

This doesn’t mean Facebook hasn’t changed before, it has been always an evolving platform. Every time, Facebook changes it’s Edge Rank algorithms that Govern their content on the newsfeed, there is news that Facebook is dead. I almost felt the same thing about this hysteria on #DeleteFacebook.

The new algorithm shows information to see more relevant targeted advertising. As they say that You are not Facebook’s customer, but products, Whatever it may be. You should know what the company is learning about, and you can control the flow of information. But if you are concerned too much about Facebook controlling recording your data, you should rather delete it.

One way of checking is preferences and likes Facebook has recorded about you based on interaction is by clicking on Settings — Ads and click the arrow on the far right of the navigation bar across the top of the screen from the drop-down menu. Here, you can control which of these details Facebook should be allowed to share with advertisers.

You can’t control everything Facebook records, but What you can do is be more aware of the types of information you reveal as you fill out your profile, react to your News Feed, and browse the web.
